Once upon a time, there were two friends, two very different journeys… and one shared dream: to create a concierge service in Bali as elegant as a sunset in Canggu, as welcoming as a Balinese family, and above all, as warm as dinner with close friends.
A daily life that didn’t quite feel like ours
We both grew up in the Paris suburbs, wrapped in traditional ambitions, tight schedules, and neatly mapped-out careers.
But beneath it all, there was another melody quietly playing in the background—
one of travel, daydreams, and a life chosen, not imposed.
So, each in our own time, we started listening to that little inner voice.
Lauréline left to live in Australia, Bali, and then New Zealand.
Marie, too, packed her bags (always too small for her taste) and spent several years in New Zealand.
Through new experiences, meaningful encounters, and many kilometers traveled,
we slowly started to redesign our version of an ideal life: freer, softer, more aligned.
Our meeting & the spark
When we crossed paths in Bali, it was instant.
Sensitivity, creativity, a quirky sense of humor, love for beauty, and a deep passion for human connection— we spoke the same language.
That’s how Maison Malau was born: a concierge service that reflects who we are at the crossroads of two paths, two complementary strengths… and one obvious friendship.
Our dream team
We had to make a (very tough) selection from all our superpowers to focus on the essentials:
- Marie? Kindness, razor-sharp organization, and fine-tuned creativity.
- Lauréline? Attentive, detail-oriented, and contagiously energetic.
- And humor? It’s in our blood, though surely, that goes without saying.
Lauréline
After many professional experiences as varied as they were unexpected I started investing in Bali early on. Back then, I put in every cent I had. Trained in real estate in France (yes, foundations are my thing), passionate about architecture and projects that come to life, I’ve completed several developments, both for myself and for others.
From the very beginning, I fell in love with the island, its energy, its potential… I’ve lived a thousand stories here, and learned something essential along the way: behind every property, there are people, stories, expectations. And that’s exactly where I thrive.
Attentive, driven, and intuitive, at Maison Malau, I channel all my energy into one goal: making every owner feel at ease, and every guest feel at home.
Marie
At first, I was set on making it in cinema on becoming the next Marion Cotillard. A degree in Film Studies, a stint at Cours Florent… then a (very stylish) pivot into a Master’s in Marketing & Communication. Because somewhere between two long takes, I realized what I truly loved was telling beautiful stories, and making sure they always had a happy ending.
I’ve always been dedicated and detail-oriented in every project I’ve taken on, but a growing desire began to take root:
to pour all that energy into something personal, something that truly reflects who I am.
Gentle, meticulous, and a touch of a perfectionist, I now bring my creativity, organizational flair, and love of storytelling into every corner of Maison Malau to craft stays that are seamless, thoughtful… and just right.
